Unlike many other visual traditions, thangka painting employs distinctive techniques in craftsmanship, composition, and materials. This article introduces the preparation of the thangka canvas, its compositional principles, historical origins, and the symbolic meanings of its colors and motifs, while also examining the deeper cultural and spiritual significance embedded in the art form.
